Carpe Vinum Friday Flights!

I know the words Rosé or Blush strike fear into the hearts of any wine drinker. I believe everyone has had at least one bad experience with the cheap, budget, grocery-store variety Pink wines at least once in their lives. It might be enough to generalize all pink wines into that “Never again. . .” category. I, personally, have had the same such experiences once or twice in college, and once in a trailer park in Idaho. . .but really, that’s a longer story.

This common theme has given Pink wines a bad name, considering pleasant rosé wines have been produced in other countries longer than their newer American cousins. This Friday, I am going to attempt to put those fears to rest by serving flights of GOOD rosé wines from around the world. I have sampled these myself, and did not have any problems with flashbacks of the “other” rosé wines I’ve had nightmares about. These are light and refreshing and perfect summer wines, especially with the heat wave we’ve been having. Also great with barbeque!

Here is the current lineup:
La Garza 1999 Rosado de la Casa - Southern Oregon
La Velette 2001 Monaldesco Rosé - Umbria Italy
Domaine Poujol 2001 Rosé - Coteaux du Languedoc, France
Chateau Val Joanis 2002 Côtes du Lubéron Rosé - Southern Rhône France
El Coto 2002 Rioja Rosé - Rioja Spain

And the Extra Two:
J Christopher 2002 Cristo Irrisisto - Oregon
Domaine Tempier 2001 Bandol - Provence, France

And no, sorry. . .there is not a representative of California White Zinfandel. See earlier comment about the trailer park in Idaho.

Flights of the first 5 wines are $10 and the Extra Two are $6.
Tasting starts at 4:30PM on Friday, August 1st.
All wines in the flights are served chilled, and other chilled white wines and sparkling wines are available by the glass.

Hope to see you here!

Seize the Wine!
